Danny Ings: West Ham sign Aston Villa striker until 2025
West Ham have signed Aston Villa striker Danny Ings for £15m.
The hammer initially paid £12m to the 30-year-old, which would rise to £15m if David Moyes' side avoid relegation from the Premier League. West Ham said the cards had been sent to the Premier League by 12:00 GMT and as a result they expect Ings to be available to face Everton on Saturday. Ings joins on a deal that runs until 2025 after almost 18 months at Villa, which he joined for £25m in August 2021.
His arrival comes as Moyes revealed that Italian Gianluca Scamaca will be out "for a short period" with a knee injury, leaving Mikhail Antonio the only other suitable striker in the Hammers squad. "I'm really excited to join West Ham United," Ings said. "It's important to settle down as quickly as I can – and do the important things on the pitch for West Ham. " We've got some huge games ahead of us – and I've come here to try to score as many goals as possible to help the team get some positive results." Only Wolves have scored fewer than 15 Premier League goals this season have been scored by West Ham, who are 18th in the Premier League table and have not won in seven games. England international Ings has scored seven goals in 21 appearances so far this season, but he has not started a league game since the World Cup.His six Premier League goals are an additional for Antonio and £30.5m from Scamacca in the summer, they have managed to achieve this season. Antonio and Scamacca both scored in the 3-1 win over Fulham on 9 October, but since then they have each scored another goal, with West Ham winning just once in the league and slipping into the relegation zone. Coach David Moyes said: "I'm really happy to have Danny added to the squad. "He's a qualified Premier League goalscorer and will add great competition for places in third place in attack. Apart from Liverpool's injury period, Ings has a consistent record of scoring goals in the Premier League, averaging a goal every three games during his time at Burnley, Southampton and FIA. He started his last Premier League game for Villa on 13 November in Brighton.
